W40k Kill Team/ INQ28

And now for something totally different.

So... I may have gotten the itch to bust out an old pack of Imperial Guard Cadians (and a poorly painted Chimera) that I purchased ages ago. This may have led to an Ebay splurge on random bits. I may have also found a copy of Inquisitor at my local used book store.

I never bought into Warhammer 40K because I found the entry point entirely too high and the rules entirely too complicated for my liking. However, I've always loved the fluff. Espiacially the fluff surrounding the Imperial Guard (Astra Militarum). As a former Army Infantryman I was really able to identify with the average ground pounder of the 41st millennia. I devoured almost everything Dan Abnett wrote in the universe (I find most of the other authors lacking). Anyway, I recently stumbled over the Kill Team: Heralds of Ruin rules variant via Guerrilla Miniature Games and that reignited my desire to play 40k. More importantly It has a low cost of entry! So here is my partially assembled force of IG for Kill Team (I'll work out the fluff soon).

My roughed out paint scheme on my old beat up Chimera (It is unfinished at the moment)

On to Inquisitor!

So, I mentioned the various parts and pieces I picked up on Ebay.... my wife is very forgiving. After spotting the rules and picking them up on a whim I went full in with the minis. So far I have 3 Inquisitors, 2 Guard Veterans, a Bounty Hunter, and 2 Rogue Traders.

Inquisitor 1 ( Ordo Xenos)

Inquisitor 2 (Ordo Malleus)

Inquisitor 3 (Ordo Hereticus)

Guard Veteran 1
Guard Veteran 2
Bounty Hunter
Rogue Trader Captain
Rogue Trader Security Chief

I'm working on a few more figure kit bash/ conversions at the moment, including one more Inquisitor (who needs 4 Inquisitors?). Hopefully I can get these primed today and start on the painting. Let me know what you think or if you have any questions about the kits I used to create these.

Frostgrave barbarian.

I took a break from my Post Apoc games and slung some paint on a Hasslefree sculpt yesterday. I think he came out well. I'll probably use him as a barbarian for Frostgrave but I based him in a generic way so he can be used for nearly any game system.

I particularly like the depth I got on his cape. I ultimately highlighted it with an orange to give it that tone.

Next up is a Red Box Games mini called Old Holvand. You can see him at the following link.  http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=old-holvand~hfh080&category=fantasy-%26%0D%0Asteampunk~fantasy-humans

Some people call me the space cowboy

I painted this guy up as part of my post apoc game. He is a reaper sculpt that I picked up on a whim. I had high hopes for  him but he turned out pretty average. That is my fault not the mini's lol. I also finished the base on my little robot from Hasslefree.

I based them with Citadels Agrellan Earth. It's a neat little product and I like the simple effect it gives.

Modern/ Post Apoc 7

I wanted to put up my Preserver test model for This is Not a Test. I kept the paint scheme grounded in reality as I may use these guys in modern games in the future. So far only one is done (minus the base!) and I'm very impressed with the quality. I served as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army for nearly ten years and I can tell you these minis are as accurate as you are going to find at this scale.

Here is my test mini.

I have the other 12 on my desk now. I'm probably going to batch paint them as they are similar enough not to warrant individual attention. Hopefully I can maintain the same level of quality as the test mini. I have enough minis that I think I can add some science fiction flare to some of the more exotic guns (maybe a blue energy weapon glow?) without making them unsuitable for modern games.

Post Apoc Minis 6

Alright, I finally finished off my Raiders and painted up a robot for my post apoc game. I'm pretty proud of the robot.

First up the completed Raiders.

Next my Hasslefree robot. Please excuse my photogenic fingers. I also haven't done the base yet.

Finally, I stopped by my FLGS and accidentally bought some old school style robots and a power armor wearing cowboy for my Preserver warband (all from Reaper).

I'm excited to paint up the power armored guy but he will have to wait until I really get into my Preservers.

Post Apoc Minis 5

I've finished a number of minis this week. First up are a couple of raiders.

This is the Raider band so far. I have 4 more to go.

Next I finally finished my remaining peacekeepers.

And finally here is a couple of shots of the finished band.

Let me know what you think!

Post apocalyptic minis!

My Ratnik miniatures from Lead Adventure arrived yesterday. I recieved them from Germany in less than 7 days and I got a bonus mini!

Anyway here is the batch unprimed
Primed and showing the bases made from various vehicle kit bits.
And here are my two test models painted in a tan scheme and a green woodland scheme.
I really like these minis. These two are nearly identical but the remainder are very varied. What are your thoughts?

For my millions of rabid fans waiting on my next post... ;)

I'm waiting on some modern troops from Hasslefree (and some barbarians) and some Ratnik miniatures from Lead Adventure. You should start seeing posts on these in the near future. Otherworld adventures

Today I finished up a couple of Otherworld human fighters. I think they are excellent models, well sculpted, and easy to paint.
I've got a couple of Hasslefree minis still on the painting table and a rather large order of modern/ post apocalyptic minis on the way ( and a few more fantasy minis).
