Frostgrave barbarian.

I took a break from my Post Apoc games and slung some paint on a Hasslefree sculpt yesterday. I think he came out well. I'll probably use him as a barbarian for Frostgrave but I based him in a generic way so he can be used for nearly any game system.

I particularly like the depth I got on his cape. I ultimately highlighted it with an orange to give it that tone.

Next up is a Red Box Games mini called Old Holvand. You can see him at the following link.  http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=old-holvand~hfh080&category=fantasy-%26%0D%0Asteampunk~fantasy-humans

Finished Jholkar

I finished up my Jholkar mini today. He is a great model and a true joy to paint.

Jholkar Wip

Here are a couple of WIP shots of my Jholkar mini I recieved from Hasslefree miniatures a couple of weeks ago. I think he makes a pretty good barbarian figure for any 28mm game.

I'm liking the progress thus far. I started with a dark brown base coat on his skin and I think the effect is coming along nicely. I'll post an update once he is finished.

Frostgrave Treasure Tokens

I finished off some quick and dirty treasure tokens for Frostgrave today. These are the six basic tokens that come with the game. I have the premium tokens that came with the level 3 Nickstarter as well but I haven't finished them yet.

Finished Frostgrave Warband

Here are the pictures of my finished initial warband.

Wizard and apprentice
Thugs
Bowman and dog
Treasure hunter and Thief
Crossbowmen
Assembled group
I'm pretty satisfied with these guys. I used a painting style that I haven't used before (simple and extreme highlighting) to give them more of a cartoonish feel and was able to knock them out very quickly. I've already started in on my extra troops and should have them finished by the end of this week.

New Wizard Tower

My semi-cartoonish wizard tower is finished except for the snow. It was super cheap and simple but I feel like it's a cool finished piece. It's made out of a Pringles can, a rockstar can, a few match sticks, foam sheets for the stone and shingles, a party hat for the roof, craft sticks door with card stock accents, and pink foam for the rocky base.

Unfortunately I didn't get any WIP pictures of this one but it was super quick and easy. I hope you like it.

More Frostgrave

So I finished off my first Frostgrave Thug, my Wizard, and a cool Warriors of Chaos to Necromancer conversion.

First up the Wizard

Next my Thug
 And finally the Necromancer conversion

Overall I'm pretty happy with the direction the project is headed. The Metal wizard was very easy to paint and the Plastic Frostgrave soldier box is very characterful .

Frostgrave Soldiers

I finally received my Frostgrave stuff last week. Part of it was a box of twenty soldiers. It comes with 4 identical sprues. Each sprue comes with 5 unique bodies, 10 unique heads, 2 unique shields, assorted weapons (Xbow, bow, 2 handed, and 1 handed weapons), and various accessories (bags, ropes, pouches). Overall the kit is smartly designed, everything fits together nicely and gives a great overall effect. I highly recommend it.

Below are some pictures of my warband in various stages of completion.

Metal Knight

Metal Templar

My assembled warband. The primed figures are my metal Wizard and Apprentice, the Warhound is Reaper Bones.

Finally we have some assembled extras that my warband may employ in the future. Two of the figures are on Gripping Beast Saxon bodies as I needed them to be in chain mail.

They are in my garage drying from a coat of black primer at the moment. Hopefully you will get to see them painted up soon!

Broken Tower

So I got a large foam block in a package I ordered and decided to do up a tower for a new game called Frostgrave ( )

I began by attaching foam core to the outside, carving the stone work with a pen and attaching coffee stirrers.

I then cut it to the desired shape

Next I carved out some of the top to add debris to later

I filled the top with sand and base coated with black

Next I painted it grey and gave it a few drybrushes

I then added various bits for a light steampunk feel, painted it brass and washed it with citadel Nihilakh Oxide. After that it was just a matter of adding various things and giving it a good covering of snow for that frozen city look.

Overall i think it turned out well. Not exactly what I had envisioned at the start but not bad either.
