Nuka Cola Mini Fridge

I'm still around, but I took about a year off from the hobby. I have some projects on the way, including a 4x4 board for Shadow Wars: Armageddon. in the meantime check out the Fallout inspired mini fridge I put together. It cost me less than $100 USD.

The rust effect was done using the Salt and Hairspray technique that is frequently used to weather miniatures. Overall I'm pretty happy with this. It was a good learning experience and a nice break from tiny terrain.

RelicBlade and my Lava Castle Terrain

I'm not sure if you guys have heard of RelicBlade yet, but it is a new tabletop miniature game with RPG elements. It requires few minis and a 2x2 playing surface. It is in Kickstarter at the moment ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1000723637/relicblade-adventure-battle-game ). The creater is a comic book artist who sculpted, did the art, and wrote the rules on his own. Check out his website here: http://relicblade.com/ and the Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/182254545474657/ . Any way on to the good stuff!

I started with an initial sketch inspired by RelicBlade's author own Castle.

I carved the terrain from 2 inch thick pink foam and glued it to mdf.

Afterward I applied a thick coat of acrylic caulk and brushed it out.

I then glued sand to the rock.

Primed the entire thing black.

Drybrushed in several shades of grey.

Painted the lava with white, orange, yellow, and reds. I also did a light drybrush of black.

I'm now working on the man made features of the board. First up is this wip of one of my rope bridges. It's only string and various craft sticks. I'll have more soon.

Kill Team team still chugging.

Here is a small update on my Kill Team (IG portion).

As you can see I have been very unproductive! The entire IG team is built and I'm working on the Inquisitor retinue as well. I should have a more significant update in the near future.

Meanwhile, I'm working on a rules update for Kill Team: Heralds of Ruin  over on the Facebook page. Hop on in if you want to help out or just hurl insults our way.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/481345801919687/

W40k Kill Team/ INQ28 Part 2

Chugging away at this project. I finished of my first Guard sergeant to test the paint scheme.

I like the blue face paint I added on a whim.

I also finished my Commissar (from the Baneblade commander figure).

The Bounty Hunter

I went back and added hazard stripes to the chainsword and bolter.

This is one of my two IG Veterans, I'll spare you the other until I decide if I like him.

And my final update for this post is my first Inquisitor.

What do you think?

W40k Kill Team/ INQ28

And now for something totally different.

So... I may have gotten the itch to bust out an old pack of Imperial Guard Cadians (and a poorly painted Chimera) that I purchased ages ago. This may have led to an Ebay splurge on random bits. I may have also found a copy of Inquisitor at my local used book store.

I never bought into Warhammer 40K because I found the entry point entirely too high and the rules entirely too complicated for my liking. However, I've always loved the fluff. Espiacially the fluff surrounding the Imperial Guard (Astra Militarum). As a former Army Infantryman I was really able to identify with the average ground pounder of the 41st millennia. I devoured almost everything Dan Abnett wrote in the universe (I find most of the other authors lacking). Anyway, I recently stumbled over the Kill Team: Heralds of Ruin rules variant via Guerrilla Miniature Games and that reignited my desire to play 40k. More importantly It has a low cost of entry! So here is my partially assembled force of IG for Kill Team (I'll work out the fluff soon).

Group Shot
Characters Front
My roughed out paint scheme on my old beat up Chimera (It is unfinished at the moment)

On to Inquisitor!

So, I mentioned the various parts and pieces I picked up on Ebay.... my wife is very forgiving. After spotting the rules and picking them up on a whim I went full in with the minis. So far I have 3 Inquisitors, 2 Guard Veterans, a Bounty Hunter, and 2 Rogue Traders.

Inquisitor 1 ( Ordo Xenos)

Inquisitor 2 (Ordo Malleus)

Inquisitor 3 (Ordo Hereticus)

Guard Veteran 1
Guard Veteran 2
Bounty Hunter
Rogue Trader Captain
Rogue Trader Security Chief

I'm working on a few more figure kit bash/ conversions at the moment, including one more Inquisitor (who needs 4 Inquisitors?). Hopefully I can get these primed today and start on the painting. Let me know what you think or if you have any questions about the kits I used to create these.

Frostgrave barbarian.

I took a break from my Post Apoc games and slung some paint on a Hasslefree sculpt yesterday. I think he came out well. I'll probably use him as a barbarian for Frostgrave but I based him in a generic way so he can be used for nearly any game system.

I particularly like the depth I got on his cape. I ultimately highlighted it with an orange to give it that tone.

Next up is a Red Box Games mini called Old Holvand. You can see him at the following link.  http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=old-holvand~hfh080&category=fantasy-%26%0D%0Asteampunk~fantasy-humans
